I understand that the Silver Surfer came from an ancient and significantly advanced civilization that has lost the will to strive or explore. In that sense he has insight to contribute to our human condition. I do not think humans have lost the will to strive and explore. However, I think we can benefit by reflecting on what we are striving or exploring for. In particular are we better off if we simply strive for more material possession. Many of us especially in North America and Europe can curb our need for those. Instead let us consider the value of time spent with friends and family and in the nature that our beautiful planet offers us.
